Arcade Fire, Showing Filmmakers The Way to DIY
It may not be for everyone, but filmmakers who want to control their own destinies might be interested in how Canadian musicians Arcade Fire have combined commercial success with DIY. For at least the last ten years, the music business has been slightly ahead of filmmaking in recognizing the problems and possibilities of digital distribution and marketing. UCF Film grad student Sam Torres spotted this July 6th, 2010 ABC News article by David J. Prince and recognized that Arcade Fire's DIY strategies were something filmmakers could copy.
