"Influencers" Are Overrated: Instead You Need "Advocates"

An August 13th, 2012 post by Aaron Lee does a great job of explaining why social media marketers need to understand the differences between "Influencers" (pundits, bloggers and celebrities) and "Advocates" (highly-satisfied customers) and the benefits that each can offer.

Aaron Lee's article - and the infographic that accompanies it (see below) - are well worth reading in their entirety. But here's the bottom line: If you're marketing your film via social media - you should not spend too much time enlisting the help of Influencers. A much more valuable form of recommendation comes from Advocates - a sustainable marketing force of everyday customers who voluntarily act as brand ambassadors.
