Is Facebook Now Worth More Than News Corp or Time Warner?
A January 2nd, 2011 article in the NY Times Dealbook reports that Goldman Sachs has invested $450 million in Facebook. The terms of that investment would put the valuation of the social media site at about $50 billion as of the start of 2011. If these reports are accurate, the personal fortune of Mark Zuckerberg, which Forbes estimated at $6.9 billion when Facebook was valued at $23 billion, is now approaching the $15 billion mark. And Facebook would be worth more than all of News Corp. ($45 billion) or Time Warner ($46.6 billion).
