How to Make a Film: 3 Commandments and 5 Steps
Esther B. Robinson, director of A Walk Into the Sea: Danny Williams and the Warhol Factory, contributed this Winter 2010 post to Filmmaker Magazine entitled "Balancing Risk and Responsibility While Making Great Films." Esther, who favors Big Art and Little Debt, cites the 3 Commandments of Independent Film:
First commandment: Make work that matters.
Second commandment: Get right with thy personal cash.
Third commandment: Know and keep to thy limits.
I strongly recommend sampling Esther's pithy inspiration. She is a microbudget filmmaker who understands the sacrifices and wonder of what we do at UCF.
