$5 Cover: MTV and Craig Brewer Team Up And A New Form of Storytelling May Emerge
From the LA Times on April 27th, 2009, film writer Patrick Goldstein analyzes what makes MTV's new series, $5 Cover, unique. Comprised of 15 six minute episodes, the series is a collision of music, reality TV and the web. Orchestrated by filmmaker Craig Brewer, writer-director of "Hustle & Flow," and MTV's head of New Media David Gale, $5 Cover may point the way to a new form of storytelling that bridges traditional episodic TV and the web.
