YouTube Redesign Will Make It More Like TV

On Dec. 1st, 2011, YouTube unveiled its "new look."

The redesign has many features but the ultimate goal seems to be to make YouTube stickier (i.e., users spend more time at the site) and more like TV.

While the number of devices that play video content continues to grow and diverge (tablets, smartphones, largescreen TVs, etc.) - the actual content may be in the process of converging (as Prof. Henry Jenkins and others have predicted).
