Changing Best Practices for Modern SEO

The rules you have been taught about how to optimize your website for search engines may be changing.

As Jeff Haden observed in a Nov. 7th, 2011 post to inc.com, current SEO strategies will have to adapt and change as digital personal assistants (like Apple's Siri) place more emphasis on local - using listings on Foursquare, Yelp, Facebook Places, etc. instead of Google to find goods and services.

Similarly, a Nov. 8th, 2011 Mashable blogpost by Erin Everhart (director of web and social media marketing at the digital marketing and web design company, 352 Media Group) suggests keywords and inbound links from popular website are diminishing in importance for SEO as local and social media grow in importance to consumers.
