Netflix's Logline for Pocahontas: Charges of Sexism Over a Native Woman's "Yearning"

A September 20th, 2015 post to Mashable reveals why Netflix changed their online synopsis for Pochahontas (1995).

In response to social media complaints (that the words chosen to describe a film about a Native women perpetuated stereotypes that were sexist and racist) Netflix sent an email to blogger Adrienne Keene, saying the synopsis had been "updated to better reflect Pocahontas' active role and to remove the suggestion that John Smith was her ultimate goal."
