A July 18th, 2012 post to The Wrap by Lucas Shaw carried some very interesting quotes from the keynote speech given by Emmy-Award winning director Greg Yaitanes to the Social TV Summit (held at the Bel-Air Country Club on July 18th, 2012).
Instead of treating the internet as an enemy (e.g., seeking new laws to thwart "piracy"), Greg Yaitanes admonished Hollywood execs to learn to collaborate with online technologists: Silicon Valley and Hollywood should recognize "we are in the same business." In particular, Greg Yaitanes faulted those Hollywood execs who were slow to use social media as a way of better engaging viewers: “The show is just one part... additional content and interaction socially are now required of you.”
