Bloom: Legal Transformative Use? Piracy?
"Bloom" (created by Nick Bertke, better known as Pogo on the web and in the music scene) is a patchwork of vocals and musical chords from various Disney films.
Apparently Nick recorded the harp sample from 'Sleeping Beauty' and a series of chords from 'A.I: Artificial Intelligence' to form the base of the chorus. The vocals are sampled from Disney films, each of which are illustrated in the video.
I am posting this video to illustrate the kind of work that the studios hate (because it appropriates their copyright content) but many New World filmmakers - and a massive worldwide audience that loves the familiarity and novelty of video remix - celebrate.
If you think this kind of work deserves a place online, please consider signing a petition opposing SOPA - a law that mandates an "internet death penalty" for offshore websites that post this sort of content - or US sites that link to them.
