Self Distribution: Louis C. K.

The creator of the paradigm-busting FX series “Louie,” Louis C. K., has announced that his Nov. 10, 2011 appearance at the Beacon Theater in Manhattan will be recorded and posted on his website,, starting on Dec. 10. Anyone with $5 - no subscription or commercials - can watch an uncensored version of Louis's latest standup comedy. This form of self-distribution - which admittedly builds upon fame and a fan-base built through traditional media outlets - is the dream of many frustrated indie filmmakers: "Why should I go through a cable network when I can just give it directly to the people who want to see it? It’s so much easier.”
