Summer 2010 at the Box Office


Box Office revenue was up over $100 million in the summer of 2010 (compared to the May-to-August period of 2009). But here's the bad news: The rise came from increased ticket prices and surcharges for 3-D and IMAX screenings, not from attendance, which was actually down 2%. According to this Aug. 31st, 2010 Inside Movies article, the movie business became even more unpredictable in 2010 as A-List stars and familiar titles were not a guarantee of good box office.
